Hona was Lyra's adoptive grandmother and comfort when times were tough. She knew about the siren curse and did not approve of Lyra being involved with it. She found Lyra on the beach when she was a baby after her mother turned into seafoam. She was also revealed to be the Poseidon's sister (Aleah's sister).

Appearance

Hona is often seen with a worried expression on her face. She has long gray hair (auburn when she was in her youth) and light brown eyes.

History

NOTICE CONTAINS SPOILERS

After about episode 164, we find out the shocking truth that Lyra is not the Poseidon's sister, but Hona is instead. The next episode shows flashbacks to when Hona and Aleah were younger and still adjusting to their talents. The two grew apart when Ophelia fell in love and Hona may have punished him for it. This may be possibly why she took pity on Lyra's mother (Emila) when she gave birth as a siren. She raised Lyra and is very proud to see her granddaughter grow up, though she doesn't seem surprised about what sort of drama Lyra's gotten herself into.

Abilities/Talents

Like Aleah (or Ophelia), she is also a sorceress and is also capable of magic. She is seen teaching her younger sister how to use her magic when they were younger. However Hona's powers grew weaker throughout the years and "time ran out" for her, which then before she died, she gave her powers to Lyra.

Protective Spell

When Hona found Emilia on the shore, who then died due to siren's inability to give birth, found Lyra among the sea foam, she decided to take Lyra in and cast a protective spell to prevent her from meeting the same fate as her mother.

Temporary TIme Freeze

When Ophelia was about to go onboard with Calder, she and Hona had a small argument, in which Ophelia said something that hurt Hona emotionally. Hona's emotions overwhelmed her which resulted her in unintentionally temporarily paralyzing Ophelia.
